Disney movies tend to make for fun mashups, and this video in which the trailer for the upcoming remake of Carrie is reimagined as the 1950 classic Cinderella is no exception. In the long-standing tradition of turning the willful innocence of Disney into cynical, sometimes harrowing material, YouTube user Cracker76 aligns scenes from the animated fairy tale with the audio of the teenage horror flick perfectly.

Cinderella stands in for Carrie (played by Chloë Grace Moretz), while the evil stepmother is, of course, Carrie’s mom Margaret (Julianne Moore). The mashup makes a surprisingly good case for how the two seemingly disparate heroines are actually quite alike—and suggests a Cinderella story without a happy ending.
