Watch Kanye and Kimmel Talk Like Two Adults on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

The whole cross-media fracas between Kanye West and Jimmy Kimmel started because West was taken out of context. Last night, Kimmel acknowledged that he’d never seen West’s whole BBC interview with Zane Lowe (only a “couple little parts”) when he mocked West by recreating, with child actors, brief exchanges from that conversation.

Which is why it’s worth watching last night’s interview, in which the two appeared together on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to hash things out, in full. Rather than the “rap beef” Kimmel kept teasing, the two ultimately talked things out politely, like adults. Kimmel did perhaps try to undermine West a little—the first two questions he asks are “Who are you wearing?” and whether his grill is new—but mostly they rehashed the same points West discussed in the original interview with Lowe, the ones that didn’t make it into Kimmel’s sketch, about racism, classism, the nature of celebrity in 2013, and the reasons for West’s own self-love.

Watch the whole thing (the last six minutes are the most interesting part) below.
