Invite Tig Notaro to Your House

Last summer, Tig Notaro performed what was probably 2012’s most talked-about standup set—a tense, funny, moving, and unexpected 45 minutes about learning she has cancer (on the heels of a handful of other calamities). Louis C.K. called it one of “a handful of truly great, masterful standup sets” he had ever seen.

And now she’s coming to your house. If you’ll have her.

For a Showtime special, Notaro will be touring the U.S. by playing “in barns, in basements, on rooftops, in living rooms,” maybe “a back yard BBQ, or a dysfunctional family reunion, or even a Friday night open bar on your front porch.” She will combine, apparently, the intimacy of Maria Bamford’s Special Special Special with the total uncertainty of performing for strangers.

Sounds fun.
