Daniel Day-Lewis Stars in Spielberg’s Obama

You can watch Barack Obama’s full speech from the White House Correspondents’ Dinner over at the Slatest, but if you have only a few minutes, here’s a high-quality video of the best part. The less you know the better, but suffice to say they found a way to show Daniel Day-Lewis taking on one of his most demanding transformations yet: playing President Barack Obama.

When we asked leading Lincoln expert Harold Holzer what he thought of Daniel Day-Lewis’ portrayal of Obama’s favorite president in Lincoln, he said it was “uncanny, convincing, and historically right.” Here the performance is every bit as uncanny.
