Family Tree, a new series created, co-written, and directed by Christopher Guest, stars Chris O’Dowd as a man in his early 30s who begins exploring his family history after an aunt he never knew leaves him a box full of mysterious belongings. It will apparently be in the mockumentary style Guest perfected in Waiting for Guffman and Best in Show—a style that has since taken over quite a bit of the sitcom landscape.
Nina Conti and Tom Bennett also star, and Guest regulars like Fred Willard, Michael McKean, Bob Balaban, and Ed Begley, Jr. will appear on the series, reportedly set to premiere some time in May.
