Keep an Eye Out for This Herzog Documentary

Happy People: A Year in the Taiga has made the festival rounds since 2010. Werner Herzog didn’t film it himself; rather, he took a 4-hour-plus TV documentary by Russian director Dmitry Vasyukov and distilled it into a 94-minute movie. While that might dampen the enthusiasm of some Herzog fanatics, keep in mind that it has gotten some rapturous reviews.

And it’s finally getting a limited theatical release this month, with a DVD to follow. Certainly worth seeking out for if you find Herzog’s engagement with nature as riveting as we do.
