This year’s Oscar nominations were announced this morning by Emma Stone and the host for this year’s Academy Awards ceremony, Seth MacFarlane.

As many expected, Lincoln led the way with 12 nominations. Life of Pi received 11. There was less love than some predicted for Zero Dark Thirty, which received just five nominations; Kathryn Bigelow was not nominated for Best Director. Tom Hooper, who directed Les Miserables, did not receive a nod either, but his film got eight nominations.

In a mild surprise, Silver Linings Playbook also received eight nominations, including one for its director, David O. Russell. Argo got seven; its director, Ben Affleck, was not nominated.

There was a lot of love for Benh Zeitlin’s Bayou-set indie film Beasts of the Southern Wild, which was nominated for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress, and Best Adapted Screenplay.
