I confess I am not familiar with Michael Bay's complete oeuvre. In fact, since he's spent the last five years focusing his directorial energies entirely on the Transformers franchise, I have pretty much stopped following his work entirely.
But his next film, Pain & Gain, looks like it might be... good? Or, at the very least, pretty funny? Mark Wahlberg plays Daniel Lugo, a kidnapping bodybuilder whose dubious exploits were chronicled a little over a decade ago by the journalist Peter Collins. Wahlberg is surrounded by other terrific actors, including Tony Shalhoub, Ed Harris, and Anthony Mackie. The Rock is also in this movie.
It comes out in April.
