Deadline is reporting that Mitch Hurwitz—who has been directing additional episodes of his beloved show Arrested Development, to be aired on Netflix next year—”shot more material than planned and also came up with ideas for additional scenes and storylines.”

Perhaps this should not be surprising, given all the new guest stars that have hopped on to the revived series—from Conan O’Brien to John Slattery to Brow Beat favorite Maria Bamford—and the old guest stars who will be resurrecting their past characters (Scott Baio, Jeff Garlin, Judy Greer, and so on).

The upshot is that, rather than getting 10 new episodes of Arrested Development next year, the show’s devoted fans, who have been pining for its return for going on seven years now, will likely be getting somewhere between 12 and 15. Netflix still plans to make the new episodes available—all at once—some time in the spring.
