This isn’t a bootleg: Universal Pictures decided to make the entire script for This Is 40, Judd Apatow’s next movie, available online, as part of an awards push. The movie focuses on the Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann characters from Knocked Up, but is, reportedly, more like Funny People in tone—a mix of serious and farcical, with an emphasis on getting older.
As Splitsider and Bleeding Cool both note, Apatow makes famously extensive use of improvisation in his movies, and it’s not clear (to me, at least) whether this is a “shooting script” or something more closely resembling the finished product (which will hit screens on Dec. 21). But if you’re an Apatow fan, and don’t mind spoilers, this is required reading.
