Flo Rida’s “Whistle” is definitely one of the lesser tunes to hit #1 on the pop charts lately. As Jody Rosen wrote during its brief reign back in August, the song is catchy but insipid, and has lyrics that “aren’t just bad, they’re baffling.”
Which is why the parody below is an improvement: It keeps the catchy tune, but makes far better use of the song’s lyrical refrain. Rather than being a painfully obvious sexual metaphor, the whistle now belongs to a replacement ref. Next time your favorite NFL team gets royally screwed over by incompetent officiating, sing a bit of this tune, and maybe you’ll feel a little better.
Or maybe not. For now, at least, enjoy.
