There Are Two Kinds of Movies in the World

Clint Eastwood and Eli Wallach

Those that use that cliché, and those that don’t. Actually, that’s not true at all—there are many kinds of movies. Still, this nicely done supercut from James Chapman reminds movie fans of at least two things: 1) that hoary formulation is cinematically played out, and 2) even jokes about that particular cliché have gotten pretty old.

With any luck, this video will make screenwriters think twice before they go to that well again. If you can’t top “those with loaded guns, and those who dig,” maybe just don’t bother.
