Springsteen and The Roots Do the “E Street Shuffle”

Bruce Springsteen, Steven Van Zandt, and Black Thought perform in Denmark

Back in March, at South by Southwest, Bruce Sprinsteen celebrated the diversity of his musical influences and idols, from Woody Guthrie to Public Enemy. This past weekend, performing at a festival in Denmark, he found himself on the same bill as The Roots—who are musical magpies themselves, drawing directly on rock, jazz, funk, and more in their own work.

So the two eclectic musical acts got up on stage together and did a number from Springsteen’s early days, the opening track from 1973’s The Wild, the Innocent, and the E Street Shuffle. And they sounded terrific. Enjoy. (Via Stereogum.)
