Pop starlets seem to be courting a decidedly Comic-Con audience these days:
Lady Gaga and Katy Perry both set their latest videos in outer space
, and now Beyoncéhas gone all
Mad Max
in the
post-apocalyptic
, militaristic clip for “Run the World (Girls),” the M.I.A.-ish lead single from her new album,
4.
At a time when there are a lot of
actual
revolutions going on, the political “message” of the video (which seems to something like “fierce outfits and killer dance moves = power”) feels a little thin. But at the very least, the gorgeous video has sold me on the actual song, which has been getting
decidedly mixed reviews
since it leaked online last month. Has the song conquered you yet?
