“How I Met Your Mother” Goes to Russia

The  How I Met Your Mother  Shame Index  has gone on hiatus this season, but that doesn’t mean we here at Brow Beat don’t continue to have warm, conflicted feelings about the CBS sitcom. So we heartily enjoyed this commercial ( via Videogum ), touting the new Russian version of  HIMYM.  Even when it’s in a foreign language, there is something so gosh-darn comforting about this show:

One question: Why is Russian Barney so old?

Last spring,  Variety   reported  that Russia’s CTC network was close to sealing a deal to produce a localized version of  HIMYM . The network had already had success adapting those other American sitcom gems,  Everybody Loves Raymond  and  The Nanny

I had planned to title this post “In Russia,  mother  meets  you !”, but  another blog  already made that joke. Do you think they can get  Yakov Smirnoff  to play  the Chris Elliott role ?
