I'm a writer working on a book, The Happiness Project, an account of the year I spent test-driving the wisdom of the ages, the current scientific studies, and tips from popular culture about how to be happy-from Aristotle to Martin Seligman to Oprah. On my "Happiness Project" blog, I recount my adventures and insights as I grapple with the challenge of being happier.
I've written four books: the best-selling Forty Ways To Look at Winston Churchill, Forty Ways To Look at JFK, Power Money Fame Sex: A User's Guide, and Profane Waste (with artist Dana Hoey). I graduated from Yale Law School and was clerking for Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor when I realized I really wanted to be writing.
Raised in Kansas City, I live in New York City with my husband and two daughters. My only hobbies are reading and writing. I'm left-handed, terrible at sports, tone-deaf, a constant hair-twister, and afraid to drive. I talk to my parents and sister all the time, and I live around the corner from my in-laws.
