If you love astronomy, do I have a month for you.

April is Global Astronomy Month, an informal but planetwide celebration put together by Astronomers Without Borders, a wonderful group that promotes astronomy worldwide. Among its many projects it built a science center in Tanzania that will help teach children there about the Universe, set up an artist residency program, developed community programs, and more.

GAM is a way to bring everyone together across the planet and show them the sky. It’s organizing a lot of events, including:

And much more. It put together a nice little introductory video for the month:

I think this is a great idea. The sky belongs to all of us, everywhere, and we’re a part of it. Why not take a few nights this month and help prove it?
