Bad Astronomy

E.T. rock hunting at the bottom of the world

I am in Pasadena getting ready for the ultracool astronomy panel tonight, so today will be light blogging from me. In fact, this may be it. So I will lazyblog and send you to The Planetary Society’s website, where there has been an extremely cool ongoing blogging effort by a team of folks who went to Antarctica in search of meteorites. The story is riveting, and as an added bonus they describe what Shackleton’s team was doing on that same date exactly 100 years earlier. Shackleton’s story of Antarctic exploration is, very seriously, one of the greatest human adventures ever, and this will give you a small taste of it.
