FAIL The First:

Phil Plait Phil Plait

Phil Plait writes Slate’s Bad Astronomy blog and is an astronomer, public speaker, science evangelizer, and author of Death From the Skies!

Empire Magazine tried to recreate the iconic Shatner/Nimoy picture from the 1960s using the new actors from the upcoming Trek movie. The results? Meh.

I have some experience with photography, but how much does it take to do things like get the angle and lighting right? The new shot is plastic looking and two-dimensional. I have been harboring deeply-hidden pessimistic thoughts about the new Trek movie, and this picture brings them to the surface.

The movie better be good. Unlike that picture.

FAIL the Second:

io9 reports that Doctor Who fans tend to support McCain over Obama.

What can I say there? Oh yeah: FAIL. I mean, c'mon, that must be wrong. McCain would have regenerated by now.
