Nora McCarthy is the director of Rise, a NYC nonprofit that trains parents to write and speak about their experiences with the child welfare system and become advocates for reform. She previously edited Represent, a magazine by youth in foster care, and has written for Newsday, City Limits, and Child Welfare Watch.
