How to Get a Chicken to Play the Piano

A composer lets his avian counterpart have a turn at performing.

French composer and multi-instrumentalist Igorrr let his pet chicken Patrick have a chance to compose a song, and the results are surprisingly musical.

Igorr spread seeds on the keys to entice Patrick to play, but once the chicken gets going, he really throws himself into his performance. There’s some real talent there. In this video, we hear Patrick’s song exactly as recorded, with backing accompaniment added by Igorrr. The pair have titled it “The Chicken Sonata.”

At the end of the video, Patrick appears to leave, but pops his head up one more time, as if to check that he ate every last seed. Priorities.
