Did You See This?

This Is the World’s Largest Rodent

It’s actually very cute.

When you hear the phrase “world’s largest rodent,” you might picture something gross. But the capybara, the animal that holds this title, is actually pretty cute. Capybaras resemble guinea pigs in their shape and coat of short hair. The size of a small (or in some cases, large) dog, they can can weigh up to 175 pounds.

In this video from the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden, we get to see capybaras out and about, munching on hay and hanging out poolside. The capybara is semi-aquatic and has webbed feet to help it swim. These animals are native to South America.

Perhaps these capybaras will cause you to look at their fellow rodents with new eyes.
