You’ve probably heard of a muskox, but do you really know what it is? A muskox is a shaggy mammal that is part of the Bovidae family—along with domestic cattle, buffalo, and bison. Here’s where the “musk” part comes in: The male muskox emits a musky odor used to attract females during mating season.
In this video from the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium, we get to see a baby muskox named Hudson in action. Hudson was rejected by his mother at birth, so the zoo feeds him milk from a bottle. The very fluffy Hudson seems to love the camera: He puts his nose right up the lens as if to say, “I’m ready for my closeup.”
According to the zoo, “Hudson’s three favorite things are belly scratches from keepers, headbutting the largest logs he can find, and snacking on clovers and dandelions throughout his exhibit.” Sounds like a tough life.
