Obi-Wan’s Last Days in the Desert

A fan-made trailer imagines a solo Obi-Wan Kenobi movie.

With the success of The Force Awakens, and Rogue One on the horizon, the next evolution of the Star Wars saga is out in full force (pun intended). To that end, here’s a fan-made trailer digging into Obi-Wan Kenobi’s past: Kenobi—A Star Wars Story. It’s totally made up, of course, but it’s hard to argue that an exploration of the Jedi’s early days on Tatooine wouldn’t be worth watching.

Artfully mashing up official Star Wars footage and scenes from another Ewan McGregor flick, Last Days in the Desert, Rich Williamson is onto something here. (The animation was done by Paul Holub.)

From the deep red sun hanging low on the horizon beneath a pale moon, to the glittering Lucasfilm logo and the portentous voiceover, we totally want to see this movie. And it’s nothing short of bizarre how well dialogue spoken to, and by, Jesus works as Obi-Wan’s narration. When Jesus, sorry, Obi-Wan meets the spirit of Qui-Gon Jinn, it might leave you wanting to pull out our credit card to buy advanced tickets online. Unfortunately, no such film exists. Yet.
