CLEVELAND—As Slate wandered in and around the Quicken Loans Arena hosting the Republican National Convention, we stopped conventioneers to ask them the moment they came around to supporting Donald Trump. We found true believers who have been behind Trump since he first announced, others who pledged to support the Republican nominee at all costs, and still others who seemed pained to say the words out loud. Virtually all of them had one thing in common: They want Hillary Clinton stopped.
