Why corporations are seeping into the national parks.

With a $12 billion repairs backlog and an annual budget closer to $3 billion, the National Park Service is exploring some corporate sponsorship of park grounds. Jonathan Jarvis, the National Park Service director, announced in March he wants to relax the philanthropic rules to raise money that Congress won’t provide.

What would this look like? The new donation guidelines would allow corporations to display their logoson park grounds, as well as put the naming rights for onsite like walkways and video displays up for sale.
