Regardless of how you feel about remakes, it’s impossible not to compare them to the original. With that in mind, filmmaker Jaume R. Lloret has put together the above supercut comparing shots from the new versions side-by-side with their original counterparts. There are 25 pairs in all.
With shot-for-shot remakes, like Gus Van Sant’s Psycho, the video shows just how close to the original the filmmakers got. Seeing originals beside their high-definition remakes also serves as a reminder of just how much our technology has changed. All in all it’s a fascinating look at Hollywood’s best attempts to replicate their art form.
