By most accounts, the fastest goals in soccer history clock in at around 2 seconds, but the newly minted record in the United States is still pretty impressive. Above, watch Alex Morgan rocket through the lines against Costa Rica last week and score in a qualifying match for the Olympics within a blistering 12 seconds.
Morgan told The Guardian that the goal came from a designed play the team often uses. “It always starts off right, then something goes wrong,” she said. “This time, nothing went wrong.” Hard to argue with that.
