The Cinematic Simpsons

The funniest, sneakiest movie references in The Simpsons.

The video above makes it clear that the creative geniuses behind The Simpsons have a deep love for cinema. Throughout the show’s 26-year run on the air (plus one year on the Tracey Ullman Show), it’s snuck in many a reference to classic movie scenes of all genres—enough for editor Celia Gómez Villán and researcher Jesús Sahuquillo Olivares to come up with this hilarious montage of their cinematic tributes.

There are 27 film references in all—a fitting tip of the cap to the times the show has spent in our lives. The full list is below.

Impressive, right? In hindsight, we should expect no less from a show as hilarious and self-aware as The Simpsons has always been. Enjoy.
