Adorable Polar Bears Gleefully Playing in the Snow

For your viewing please. Happy New Year!

Let this be a lesson for us all: we will never know a level of intense happiness like that experienced by a polar bear playing in the snow. So, whatever your resolutions are this year, temper expectations. There is an entirely pure type of joy in the world, and it’s completely unattainable to human beings.

Anyway, definitely watch the video above. Thanks to an influx of donations, the San Diego Zoo surprised their resident polar bears—Kalluk, Chinook, and Tatqiq—with 26 tons of fresh snow. And oh is the happiness real. The awesome and hilarious-seeming bears jump, dive, and roll around in the fresh snow as if it’s the greatest thing to ever happen to them. Because it is. Objectively, it’s probably one of the greatest/happiest moments in the history of both animal captivity and snow.

“This was a special day for the polar bears, and I could tell they really loved it,” said the zoo’s senior keeper, Susan Purtell, in the understatement of the century.

Those bears rule.
