Cute Animal Videos Need the The Last of the Mohicans Score

Proof below.

Sometimes, in life, two things just need to be together. Peanut butter and jelly. Kentucky and basketball. The white and red sauces at the halal cart. Some partnerships were simply meant to be.

Take the video above, for instance. If you’ve been following along, you know that there’s a baby takin named Dale at the Cincinnati Zoo. He’s the best—and so is his canine best friend, Blakely. But there was always an undercurrent of sadness to Dale’s story: His relationship with Blakely, while adorable, was simply filling the emotional void (more a gaping chasm, really) left by being separated from his family.

Which brings us back to the topic of uniquely kinetic marriages. When Dale was finally reunited with his mother, the zoo caught the moment on camera. The reunion was as emotionally stirring as one would expect—there’s an initial head rub that kicked my allergies into high gear—but the video itself was lacking … something.

As it turns out, that thing, that je ne sais quoi, was right there in front of us the whole time. It was obvious, really. This reunion needed the iconic The Last of the Mohicans score.

So what we have above, ladies and gentlemen, is our ideal animal video. When the score hits the crescendo, memories of the eternal cinematic love between Hawkeye and Cora will forever fade away, replaced by Dale and his mother, rubbing heads. Fate.
