Thanks, for better or worse, to the increased accessibility of personal UAVs, the Internet has become littered with “[insert city name here] by drone” videos. Most are fine—watchable, if not particularly compelling—and settle nicely into the middlebrow YouTube pack alongside all of those Scorsese supercuts.
Occasionally, though, either because of the locale, the sensibilities of the auteur/quadcopter operator, or both, they can be straight-up good. Allow me to present the video above—in which editor Cian Greaney captures Shanghai in all its futuristic, bustling, and grey-skied glory—as Exhibit A. Enjoy the view.
