Scrabble will let players pick its first new word in nine years.

Hoping to harness a new generation of fans, Hasbro has decided to let players suggest the first new word to the Scrabble dictionary in nine years. The change will become official in August with the new edition of The Official Scrabble Players Dictionary—which will likely also include words like selfie and hashtag.
