Zoellick on Video
We have tape of Bush's new World Bank nominee.
Today, President Bush chose Robert B. Zoellick to replace Paul Wolfowitz as head of the World Bank. Sure, Zoellick is a former career diplomat, U.S. trade representative, and deputy secretary of state in the Bush administration, but could you pick him out of a crowd on Pennsylvania Avenue?
We're here to help. Last month, when he was still just a lowly Goldman Sachs executive, Zoellick appeared at the Brussels Forum in a debate with former U.N. Ambassador Richard Holbrooke. Watch Zoellick and Holbrooke discuss the 2008 presidential election (Zoellick supports John McCain), as well as learn what Zoellick thinks of Hillary Clinton (at 14:03). He offers his thoughts on the Iran-nukes issue (with a little humorous slap at the Europeans who will now be judging his World Bank candidacy) at 36:14. (Note that Zoellick doesn't say his first word until 08:09.) The tape was provided to Slate by FORA.tv.
