NASA just let a group of citizen scientists take control of a defunct probe.

The International Sun/Earth Explorer-3, or ISEE-3, made its way through the inner solar system on three missions before it left service in 1997. Now, in the first agreement of its kind, NASA has given a group its blessing to try to revive it.
