Wrapping awkward holiday gifts is an annual struggle. In 2012, Slate learned from a gift-shop expert how to tackle presents of all types of unfortunate proportions. The video is reprinted below. 

A bad wrapping job can devalue even the best holiday gift. It’s not the most complicated of tasks, yet every year, too many of us struggle with scissors, Scotch tape, and those tightly wound rolls of colorful paper. 

In the video above, Slate pays a visit to a gift shop in Brooklyn to get some pointers from an expert who believes a little bit of tissue paper and four pieces of tape can go a long way.
