This video, named “This Land of Mine,” actually shows acrylic paint flowing on paper. But you’ll swear you’re looking at the cosmos.
It was created by Roman De Giuli, a German photographer, filmmaker, and lecturer. Working as Terracollage, he uses practical—which is to say noncomputer—effects to create his striking works. (His site has many more to see.) It’s all fluids, powders, and colors stacked to create three-dimensional images that seem to offer a look at natural forces in motion: small-scale works that feel impossibly large.
