The Coming Battle of the Bullpens

Rany:

It almost seems inevitable, doesn’t it? In my mind’s eye, I can already see Schilling getting through six or seven innings on guile and guts, but exiting the game with either a small lead or no lead at all. Ditto for Clemens. Then it’s a battle of bullpens. The Yankees trot out the usual suspects: Mendoza, Stanton, Rivera (but probably not Witasick). And the Diamondbacks? Well, let’s see … there’s the 42-year-old righty with the 4.26 ERA, and the 36-year-old lefty with the 4.53 ERA, and the lefty starter with the 5.20 ERA, and the guy who lost 20 games this year … am I forgetting anyone? Oh, yeah, the 22-year-old kid who, with great help from his able manager, has blown two leads in most heartbreaking fashion.

Nah, the Diamondbacks don’t have any need for the best pitcher in the National League.
