For the concluding episode of our Working miniseries about people who help Washington, D.C.’s residents look good, we spoke to Rosana Vollmerhausen, founder and chief stylist of DC Style Factory. Vollmerhausen offers a variety of wardrobe-oriented services, always with an eye toward helping her clients find clothes that suit their own tastes and lifestyles. Sometimes that means helping customers audit their closets, collaborating with them to determine what should go and what they can put to better use. And sometimes it means helping them find newer, more flattering clothes.

Vollmerhausen tells us how she got into the business in the first place, translating her love for fashion into a business. She goes into detail about her day-to-day working life, from the effort that goes into shopping for someone to the time she spends bustling between appointments.

Then, in a Slate Plus extra, Vollmerhausen shares her thoughts on style in D.C. Is it really as bad as everyone seems to think?
