Dear Prudence

Dear Prudence: The “Transactional Relationships” Edition

Prudie talks insurance fraud in the family, green card marriages, and pronoun abuse at the office.

Mallory and guest Jos Lavery take on transactional relationships and the pros and cons of leaving your stuff at an ex’s house. They field a question about family members committing insurance fraud, counsel a woman whose parents are worried that a guy she’s not even dating might be after a green card, and talk with a listener whose coworkers constantly refer to him, incorrectly, as she: “This is like if people were calling you Steve by mistake. I don’t think you’d go through life being like, ‘Well I guess I’m Steve now, because I don’t want to bother people.’ ”
