Death Penalty Reprieve 

Last Friday, the House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly to repeal the "death tax" levied on estates greater than $675,000. President Clinton may sign some form of the bill. In 1997, former Sen. Bob Packwood and economic writer James Glassman squared off in a Slate "Dialogue" on the issue.
