Al-Qaqaa Reconsidered
The competition throws stones at the New York Times scoop.
So, don't judge the Times too harshly if its Oct. 25 article didn't tell the story perfectly—under the accepted conventions, the paper did great work. Judge the Times by how it handles the story on the rebound.
And always remember to read more than one newspaper a day.
Addendum: Oct. 30. This morning's New York Times does the right thing by gathering and assessing the Al-Qaqaa news that tilts against its Oct. 25 scoop. Good job!
