A Ray of Hope

Why today was a good day for Mitt Romney.

Every day until the election, Slate will offer up one reason to be optimistic for your candidate.

27 days to go:

Today’s Good News for Romney: Polls continue to reflect Mitt Romney’s formidable debate bump. So much so at least one pollster has already called three key swing states for the Republican presidential candidate. David Paleologos, director of the Suffolk University Political Research Center, has canceled polling in Virginia, North Carolina, and Florida, citing the impossibility of an Obama win in each state. Paleologos believes that because Obama failed to poll at least 50 percent in each state before the debate, he doesn’t stand a chance of capturing them in the remaining weeks before Election Day. Other forecasters still consider all three states near-toss-ups, but with the election drawing closer, Obama has little time left to pull the states into the Democratic column.
