Today’s Good News for Obama: Going into the debate tonight, Obama has good reason to try to sell voters on the economic recovery: Gallup announced today that the economic confidence index is the highest it has been since May. Gallup calculates the index based on how Americans rate current economic conditions and how many Americans say the economy is getting better. Of course, Democrats are the most optimistic and Republicans are the least, but independents have reported growing confidence over the past several weeks. Obama’s latest ad push has capitalized on this trend. Three weeks from Election Day, it may be a well-timed boost.
