MooLatte Revisited Again
The associations with Dairy Queen's new frozen drink get even more tasteless.
When Dairy Queen introduced a new frozen drink last summer called the MooLatte, I suggested that the name was in questionable taste because it sounded so much like "mulatto." Adweek and the Houston Press seconded. Nothing happened.
This past weekend, while taking in a showing of Mike Leigh's (very fine) Vera Drake at my local art-house multiplex, I caught a preview for a new movie by the Senegalese director Ousmane Sembene. The film is about female genital mutilation. Its title is Moolaadé.
