Reader Contest: Management Secrets of Bernard Law

A “Rumsfeld’s Rules” for the Boston cardinal.

In light of Bernard Law’s May 8 deposition in the John Geoghan case, it’s clear that the world needs a “Rumsfeld’s Rules“-like compilation of the Boston cardinal’s leadership tips. For example, when Law says, “I relied on those who assisted me in this matter to do all that was appropriate,” what management principle is he evoking? Chatterbox think it’s Law’s Rule No. 4:

“I don’t sweep things under the carpet. I have people to do that for me.”

What are Law’s Rules Nos. 1 through 3, and 5 through 10? Chatterbox invites readers to submit them. To be considered, each submission must include a Web link to a relevant quotation from Law’s deposition or Law’s other public comments regarding the pedophilia scandal. Please send entries to chatterbox@slate.com.
