She's Good Conversation, Too

On May 30, 1991, the Los Angeles Times wrote about a "fan celebration" event given by the stars of the soap opera Days of Our Lives. One of the fans quoted was "Monica Lewinsky, 18, of West Los Angeles," who was not yet the most famous woman in America. Lewinsky offered this analysis of the relative merits of daytime-television programming: "I really think there is magic. Daytime really wants to give something to the audience, and I think that in nighttime they want to take something." A bit, um, oracular. Chatterbox will get some Diet Coke and popcorn and think about it.
