An Invitation From Slate

Please join us for an all-star conversation about childhood obesity at the Cleveland Clinic on April 21.

For the last month, Slate readers have been brainstorming and debating ideas for reducing childhood obesity. Now we’re inviting you to a conversation about these ideas with the top thinkers, scientists, doctors, political leaders, and policymakers in the field. On April 21 at the Cleveland Clinic, we’ll be holding a morning discussion about the childhood obesity crisis with:

Melody Barnes, President Obama’s domestic policy adviser and architect of the first lady’s Let’s Move campaign
Dr. Dean Ornish, president and founder of the Preventive Medicine Research Institute
Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett, who’s campaigning to have his city lose 1 million pounds
Dr. David Katz, editor of Childhood ObesityJournal and director and founder of Yale’s Prevention Research Center
Dan Heath, author of the No. 1 best-seller Switch: How To Change Things When Change Is Hard
Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, chairman of the Clinical Center Department of Bioethics, National Institutes of Health
Dr. Christine Carter-Kent, associate staff physician in the Department of Pediatric Gastroenterology at the Cleveland Clinic
Dr. Joshua Sharfstein, secretary of health and mental hygiene for the state of Maryland
Seth Goldman, president and TeaEO of Honest Tea

Dr. Delos Cosgrove, the president and CEO of the Cleveland Clinic, and I will moderate the event, and Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson will be there too.

The event is free, but you need to register for it, which you can do right here. I look forward to seeing you there.
