130. CHARLOTTE FAILING–$2 million to WAYNE STATE UNIVERSITY School of Medicine (Mich.) to endow a chair in prenatal diagnosis and fetal therapy, from the former president of the board of Hutzel Hospital and Grosse Pointe, Mich., resident.

Filo and Yang are the inventors of Yahoo!, the first online directory for the World Wide Web. At ages 30 and 28, respectively, the two are the youngest individuals to have endowed a chair at Stanford in the 22 years covered by university records. Filo also recently made a $1-million gift to Tulane University (La.) for a professorship in electrical engineering and computer science.
