9. $10 million to LORAS COLLEGE (Iowa), the largest gift in the college's history. The gift will fund the establishment of a Center for Catholic Studies, an endowed chair for Catholic thought, and campus beautification projects.

9. $10 million to SMITH COLLEGE (Mass.) from two alumnae in New York City for the Fine Arts Center. The new project will add 52,000 square feet to the current buildings.

9. $10 million to VIRGINIA WESLEYAN COLLEGE to help build a student center, the largest gift ever for the 32-year-old liberal arts college.
